23 Feb 2010

Following further representations to Network Rail about the footbridge at Dawlish Station, their Chief Executive, Iain Coucher has contacted Teign MP Richard Younger-Ross to confirm that remedial work including painting is currently planned for the next financial year, 2010/2011. This follows agreement with the local planners.

In his letter Mr Coucher paid tribute to the MP for his recent successes with local rail issues and wished him continued success in his campaign to improve all aspects of the railway in his constituency.

Said Mr Younger-Ross, "Network Rail have always been ready to discuss the problems I've raised with them and we've worked well together in resolving many concerns. I'm now urging the rail company to begin work on the footbridge as soon as possible before the summer season is upon us."
