MP Launches Beer Petition

25 Mar 2010

With 6 pubs a day closing, fears are growing that the Government's announcement this week of a further increase in beer duty will force even more pubs to put up the shutters.

Teign MP Richard Younger-Ross, a member of the All Party Beer Group says he is dismayed at the further rises on beer duty. "I believe this tax will endanger more pubs and will have no impact on drink-related anti social behaviour" he said.

The MP has pledged to press the Chancellor of whatever party to reverse this change at the inevitable post election budget.

And in support of his pledge, Mr Younger-Ross has sent a petition to the pubs in Teignbridge inviting customers to add their name to a call for a reverse of this damaging tax. You can also sign the petition online, using the link below, or download a paper version for your friends, family and colleagues to sign.
