Residents Suveys say traffic speeds are too high

From our Residents Surveys we know that excessive speeds on some of our roads continues to be of concern to many.
Cllr Jackie Hook has long campaigned for safer roads and pavements and a review of Devon County speed limit policy. In spite of residents in Hele Park asking for many years for the 30mph limit on Ashburton Road to be extended west to the outskirts of the town, Devon County Council insist that "policy doesn't let them do so". This is in spite of many collisions and near collisions on this section of road.
Jackie said, "As County Councillor I got the agreement of County to review the Speed Limit Policy, but that hasn't even started yet. Meanwhile lives are being put at risk".
On Shaldon Hill, Cllr Colin Parker has long campaigned for a reduction in the speed limit from 40mph to 30mph. He says " This road is clearly in a residential area and should be reduced to 30mph. Devon County have got this wrong and I won't stop my campaign".
