Opponents of the closure of the `minor `injury unit (MIU) in Teignmouth are looking for a third option to keep the unit open.
Currently the NHS is consulting the public on two options for reorganising hospital services in Teignmouth and Dawlish. Both options would close the MIU in Teignmouth and close acute beds in the hospital. The the campaign agains the closure local councillors David Cox and Richard Younger-Ross say there must be a third option, an option that retains the MIU and acute beds in the town.
Richard Younger-Ross who is the former MP for Teignbridge said, "The proposal are not a consultation they are a dictation, the CCG proposed options both effectively close our hospital. We need a third option a third way to kkep the hospital open. I am working with David Cox to find that option, one that the people of Teignmouth and the NHS will accept, an option that retains the services in the town. We are establishing a group with local doctors opposed to the closure and others to look for and define that third option and to to put that as a working alternative to the CCGs closure proposals."
