Today the Teignbridge District Planning committee decided unanimously to follow LibDem Councillor Jackie Brodie's proposal and defer the Dawlish development framework plan.

The plan was found to be incomplete and lacking enough guarantees for the completion of the necessary link road to connect Elm Grove Road and the Exeter Road at the new roundabout by Sainsbury's.

Dawlish Town Councillors Martin Wrigley and Gary Taylor and many others had submitted objections and Cllr Alison Foden created a petition that gathered some 700 signatures in just over one week.

Martin Wrigley praised the TDC councillors for recognising the needs of Dawlish residents, and welcomed the input from the Dawlish TDC representatives to help persuade the meeting.

Campaigning now continues to get the framework plan up to scratch and suitable for the needs of Dawlish.
